I'm looking for a plotter for the new boat and I'm looking at one with an internal antenna.
The question is have you had any problems with it working under the top?
I don't think it will work well, but what do I know. :headscra:
Thanks

I was wondering about this also. You would think that and external antennae would be better.
-
I think with today's technology.. it would be fine.. Your phones GPS works fine inside a car t^
-
doubt it would perform any less than having an external. Just know you probably can't flush mount it into the helm area. Unless things have changed when I was considering one 5 years ago

Last winter I bought a lowrance elite for mine. To get use to it I hooked it up to a converter on the first floor of my house. Took it a few more seconds to acquire the satellite. But never a problem and never one since I put it in the boat.

Check with Matt, I got mine through the GPS STORE

I ordered it at the AC boat show, but you don't have to go to the show for boat show prices. Their boat show prices run on their web site for the month of January and February I believe t^

Thanks Eddie for the referral as a sponsor. Much appreciated. Let me know if you need any thing for the Topaz. Would love to come see it sometime.
Rick, I've installed a bunch of Garmin's this past season. One in particular was a 741xs w/internal ant flush mounted in the port console on a 2013 23' Nautique wakeboard boat. It functioned as it should with no issues.
Another one was a Garmin 50S flush mounted in a 2000 SeaRay 210 dual console. Again no issues with the internal antenna. And the dashboard on this boat was an inch thick. Talk about over built? I've got some good pics of these jobs. I'll see if I can get them up.
Matt.
