Title: Striper Reports Sunday & Monday... Striper Fishing is Finally Hot
Post by: Angela Rose Charters on November 13, 2007, 09:59:36 PM
Sunday, November 11th, Angela Rose Charters hosted Ray Petty and gang for a 1/2 day of striper and blue fishing. After getting an early start, we headed south of the inlet and cruised along the beach looking for some birds. Around Bayhead, good marks lit up the fish finder and the jigs were dropped. A mere pick of bluefish kept us somewhat occupied for the next hour before the bite slowed. For the next 3 1/2 hours we went fish less. With only a couple of fish on the boat, time was up and we made our way back to the dock. Before the right turn into the inlet, a gathering of birds and boats sat due east. Time was up but it didn't matter to Capt. Anthony or the guys. Capt. Anthony cut the wheel hard to starboard and ran out. For the next 2 1/2 hours, we had a great mix of stripers and bluefish. Once we hit the dock, the guys were very pleased that we went an extra mile, no pun intended, to put fish on the boat.

Monday, November 12th, Angela Rose Charters hosted a group of return customers for a mixed bag trip of stripers, bluefish, and tog. Craig, Bob, and Gary were on the boat early and the boat was underway by 0630. With almost the same game plan as the previous trip, we headed south and came across scattered marks. We dropped the lines and set up a troll. It wasn't 10 minutes into the ride before we had our first and second fish on the boat. We boated a couple more fish before the birds started gathering and working north of us. Lines were picked up and we ran a short distance and set up at the mile marker off Manasquan Inlet. Instant rod bending that lasted for the next few hours. Half way into the trip we decided to leave the fish biting and head north for some bottomfish action. That proved to be a bad idea as 1 keeper tog was boated in 2 hours. Not what we were expecting. Soooooo we left the fish, not biting, and headed back south and continued were we left off. Catching stripers and bluefish! We spent our charter time, and then some, filling up the fish box. Over all, 70 some odd fish came over the rail.
