Another unsettled weekend with rain and cautious water conditions. The weekend will be cloudy with scattered rain chances during the day. Some northern areas could have freezing rain during the day also. Heavier, more widespread rain will move in for the night and remain through Sunday before moving out for Sunday Night. Some of the rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms with heavy downpours, lightning, and winds. Temperatures will be above average again with a warm front lifting north. Highs in the 40’s to 60’s will be seen with lows in the 30’s and 40’s, before temperatures drop into the 20’s and 30’s again on Sunday Night. Water conditions will start off good to borderline early on Saturday, before deteriorating with increased winds and building seas. Saturday Afternoon will see cautious conditions and these will become hazardous by Sunday. Winds will push 35 knots with seas over 10 feet. Surf and beach conditions will be ok to cautious, as wave heights will push 8+ feet. Water temperatures are steady in the 40’s. UV Index will be Low at 0-2/15.
High pressure will remain in place across Eastern Canada and nose its way down the Eastern Seaboard through Saturday. A warm front will lift northwest of the area Friday Night into early Saturday Morning as a weak area of low pressure lift through the Great Lakes. A stronger low pressure system will lift through the Ohio River Valley into the Northeast Saturday Night into Sunday, lifting an occluded frontal system across the area on Sunday. High pressure will build to the south Monday into Monday Night before an area of low pressure moves to the North on Tuesday into Wednesday. This low will pull a cold front across the area Tuesday Night. High pressure builds to the south Wednesday through Thursday, while another area of low pressure move through the Great Lakes into New England on Thursday.
The week looks mainly dry with a mix of sun and clouds. The cold will continue with high temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s with overnight lows in the teens to 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be mostly cautious to hazardous for the week. There may be some pockets of good conditions, however, overall winds will gust greater than 20 knots with seas at 5 feet or more.
There is a large mid-latitude extra-tropical system that is developing off the East Coast. This system will head out to sea, but its sheer size will effect weather and water forecasts.
Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
