A much more settled week, but still some activity, with a mix of water conditions. Monday will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will only be in the 30’s again with overnight lows in the teens to 30’s. Chances of showers move in for Tuesday and Wednesday Day, even though those chances are low right now. Any chances will be scattered and there will be a mix of sun and clouds. Chances of any rain end for Wednesday Night and the rest of the week SHOULD be dry. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday will get into the 40’s for most areas with overnight lows in the teens to 30’s. Thursday and Friday will see highs back into the 30’s and low 40’s with overnight lows again in the teens to 30’s. IF, a low pressure system develops off the Southeast Coast and if this system tracks north or northeast, there is the potential for another coastal storm. This storm could bring snow to the area on Friday or Saturday. Right now, these chances are at around 20% or so. This will be what needs to be watched this week to see what develops over the next few days. This storm has not been in the models for very long. Water conditions will be mixed this week. Monday will have borderline to cautious conditions for ocean waters with good conditions on the bays and rivers. Seas are still recovering from the exiting storm system. Tuesday will have cautious conditions for all waters with winds gusting to 25 knots. Wednesday will have borderline to cautious conditions for ocean waters and the Delaware Bay and good conditions for other back bays and rivers. Thursday will have mostly good conditions except for southern ocean areas and midshore to offshore. Friday will have borderline to cautious conditions for ocean waters and good conditions for bays and rivers. If you go out, watch for debris from receding flood waters and damage. Surf conditions will be ok with some borderline to cautious days. All, but Thursday will have seas 2-5 feet on average with 1-3 feet on Thursday. Beach conditions will not be good this week or until repairs are made for most areas. Major beach erosion has washed out 4-10 feet of sand. Beach access is dangerous and there is a lot of debris around. There may be residual flooding also. If you are considering going out, call ahead or check with the town or park you will be visiting for current conditions. Water temperatures have dropped, as much as 10 degrees. Waters are in the 30’s now with 40’s midshore to offshore. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 1-4/15. Again, forecast for end of the week may change depending on the possibilities of another Winter storm. I will keep you updated.

High pressure will build in from the Mid South through Monday Night. The high then moves off the coast Monday Night. A cold front approaching from the west is forecast to arrive on Tuesday Night with another area of high pressure to follow. An area of low pressure may develop off the Southeast Coast and either move out to seas or track up the coast late in the week. A cold front will move through before high pressure builds in for the weekend.

The weekend will be dry right now, UNLESS, low pressure forms off the Southeast Coast and tracks north/northeast as another potential Nor’Easter/Winter Storm. Highs will be in the low to mid 40’s with lows in the 30’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious on Saturday and borderline on Sunday.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!

Title: Re: Update for Friday's Weather
Post by: Pfishingruven on January 28, 2016, 11:54:24 PM
The coastal/Winter storm is not going to happen, however, the low will glance the area on Friday bringing some rain/snow chances with snow accumulations of less than an inch. Coastal areas and water conditions will have gusty winds to 35 knots and seas to 6 feet or so. Small Craft Advisories for bays and rivers are in effect through early Saturday Morning and Gale Warnings are in effect for ocean waters. Flooding does not look like an issue, but with major beach erosion, tides may appear higher than normal. Bay flooding does not look like an issue either. With that said, tides will be pushing the Mean Higher High Water marks or just above. Otherwise, not really much of an event, hence why you haven't heard anything about it all week. The models just could not come to a solution with this system. Hopefully, there aren't any surprises tomorrow with a more westerly track as opposed to the current forecast out to sea!

Post by: Pfishingruven on February 24, 2016, 09:14:46 PM
The bulk of NJ is under a Tornado Watch while the Northeastern part of the state is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Conditions may be conducive to severe thunderstorms capable of heavy rains, dangerous lightning, damaging winds, hail, and even tornadoes. Be aware of changing weather conditions and have a way of receiving weather alerts tonight!

Be safe!!

Title: Re: Inland Flooding
Post by: Pfishingruven on February 25, 2016, 05:09:45 PM
The inland flooding I mentioned earlier in the week is happening for some small streams and river across Central and Northern NJ. Minor to Moderate Flooding is being seen across mostly Northern NJ Rivers due to heavy rains from storms the last few days!

Please keep updated if you live in an inland flood zone. The remainder of the week will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Slightly colder air returns for tomorrow with 40's during the day and 20 overnight. Water conditions are hazardous to cautious with Gale Warnings still in effect. Weekend Outlook will be up at some point tonight. My cell phone is back up...just setting everything up!
