Was out there for about a month, but only had 11 days or so of free time, the wife and I. Fished off of Oahu once with one hook up but lost it. Went out again when I was in Kauai and It turned out to be a great trip. Yellowfin and skip jacks jumping all over the place in the morning chasing flying fish, literally breaking the surface getting airborne. They were big. We trolled through them but nothing, they seemed pretty locked on to what they were already eating.
A few hours later, finally a hook up and a buddy of mine pulled in a wahoo (ono=delicious), and then shortly after one of the reels started screaming, I was up. Took a few minutes to finally get it near the boat, and when it got close it took about 3 big jumps. Pulled in a nice mahi mahi. Nothing compared to the only other one I have caught. I will remember this trip forever.
