My son and I joined 4 others (captain & mate) aboard the Fins On Feathers for our annual New Years Day Trip.
Weather forecast going into last night but we pulled out of the slip at 7AM to partly cloudy skies and a bumpy bay. Seas got worse as we neared the tip of the hook with a strong running outgoing tide bucking a stiff SE wind.
Solid 3-5's in the ocean and a howling wind. Finally stopped on the piece we were to fish near the Fisherman's Buoy. I put the first fish (& a keeper to boot) into the boat for '08. A decent picked developed with 80% keepers (although nothing big). Seas and wind slowly increased until by 11 AM it was just about unfishable because you couldn't stand up without losing your balance. Plus, Jason developed his first case of seasickness (even after taking a pill last night & another this morning). By the time we pulled the second anchor we were 4 tog shy of an 8 man limit. In addition I caught a nice ling.
Back at the dock before noon and home before 1.
Happy New Years !!

I think if we would have had half way decent conditions we really would have put a nice catch together as there were definiately bigger tog around.
FYI, did see several patches of working birds throughout the day so the bass are still around. We also run over some massive readings of bait (mackerel or herring ???) with a good amount of bigger marks below them. (bass t^).
Unfortunately, my schedule is all fricked up and I'm not even sure I can make get out again let alone make a Delaware tog trip.

Yea Ron is a great guy t^. He was part of the crew I put together lasy May for some tuna fishing in North Carolina.
I'm a bit jealous of him though, as he's heading down to Costa Rica (again ::) ;D) on February 11 for some sailfishing. He's going with another guy with whom I've fished with on several occasions Greg.
