Title: Mackerel 1/5
Post by: young gull on January 05, 2008, 07:26:31 PM
I hit 120' Miss Belmar today for some mackerel fishing . It was a bit windy and a little frosty today on the water. We headed out appx.20-25 mi., just before the fishing began some porpoise were working the Mackerel over.
The fishing was OK I filled a 96 appx. 1/2 full.....I have some nice sashimi and some bait to boot.
A group of guy's could not wait to get in to eat some sashimi with hot dip, I ate a piece or two with them.
Not a bad day......The Capt. worked to keep us on fish, one or two drifts were nice. I met some nice Gent's among the fares.
 No shortage of doggies today.
I think the fishing should be good for the next few day's........Go get um

Just got in bro. Sorry I missed your call. Nice job. How was the sashimi?
mackerel is one of the few fish I won't eat raw (or cooked for that matter ;)

Mackerel sashimi is one of the few fish that are marinated a bit before serving by the Japanese. Not one of my favorites.

Good going Ed,

I don't know if I would eat sashimi or not.  Love sushi though.  I guess anything with enough soy sauce and wasabi would be ok.   TT^

Nice job.  I'm hoping the mackeral stay around long enough for me to get out when I have a chance.  Need the bait for the 2008 season.   t^

Nice Job Young Gull.

I eat a lot of sushi especially sashimi, not a big fan of the rice. I do not think I can bring my self to try mackerel, that is almost like trying bunker. Hats off to you though.

You are right Gymrat.  It does look excellent, but I am not a fan of sushi at all.   :P
