Title: NEW MEMBERS NEEDED ! ! !
Post by: ped579 on March 08, 2008, 01:27:31 AM
OK,  There are a lot of guests on tonight.  I know by talking to a lot of anglers at the Flea market last Sunday that there is a void in Surf Forums I would like to invite any and all those that are into surf fishing to join and make this your home away from home.

We enjoy new topics and are not afraid to start new topics.  So now is your time to join and make this forum really rock.

I need input to be able to put this forum over the top.

The season is just starting and I know there are a lot of newbies that are going to try the surf this year,  We are here to help, no question is too small.

Lets talk about rigs, bait, plugs, reels, rods, tac-tics, and tricks that you have tried and either liked or had a bad experience with.

I personally invite you to join tonight.  I will be here for a while so lets talk...

Happy Catching

Paul

is the surf a good place to fish this time of year? i mean the actual beach....i know the creeks and such are hot right now, i passed oyster creek the other day, and there was 30 or so cars parked right off 9. if there's something i'm missing at the beach, please tell me, i love fishing the beach.

Thanks Ed,

The season is just about ready to pop and if you or any surf fisherman for that matter has any suggestions or techniques you would like to share please do so.

The next Full moon should be interesting.  I am looking forward to see if the Herring run will bust wide open.  If so the tides will be the key to great fishing or just ok fishing.

Right now the surf is rally slow,  If you can get to the back part of the islands around the sedge islands you should be able to start to pick a bass here and there.  I would give it till the full moon this month.  I was out for the new moon and not to much was happening.

Baits for this time of year would be clams the favorite food for the striped bass.  Blood worms and dand worms in that order will also work.

If using worms try to rig them Carolina style and real slow.  Like I mentioned in other posts I like to fish this time of year low and slow, no matter what type of bait you are using.

One of the best triggers is the water temp. and either the New Moon or Full Moon with the Full Moon being to best of the two.

The water temp of 42 to 45 degrees is another indicator.  Once all these things line up we will be good to go.

I will still target the flats behind the beach on IBSP as that will be one of the first places I can get to that will produce early.
