I just noticed the responses and after picking on Capt Joe I really wonder what he did to rate that. Almost afraid to tell you I was in from 1965 till 1971 Base Manhattan, Brooklyn Pier 8 and Governors Island, all small boats.
-
Oh my. Is this thread just a disguise for a roast in Joe's honor? A late retirement gift from NJSWF? ;D rofla

This thread did take a right turn, sorry. I was wondering how you hit a beach! A sand bar I can see, but the beach!
-
That's ok, no hard feelings, I'll get my revenge later. TT^

Haha, yeah, I always wondered that too when these things have happened around here (Manasquan). In a couple of cases, the engine died near the inlet and the boat drifted ashore. But not sure how one actually "runs into the beach" otherwise.
Then there's that one commercial Capt. in Barnegat Light who's run into the same sand bar off Andy's restaurant three times. How that guy still has a job is beyond me. I think I memorized where that bar was by the time I was 5 years old. LOL, I think avoiding that sand bar was the first lesson I ever learned in boating. If you're familiar with LBI/Barnegat Inlet you know the one.

rofla Nice.

Recent video of beached vessel in Wildwood.
-
Man that is one hell of a salvage job. I can remember when a fishing boat out of Manesquan Inlet wound up on top of the south jetty it did not take long for the scavengers to make off with some good trinkets. after that there was a Police presence till it was taken off the rocks.
-
I just heard that the boat has been refloated and towed away.

Great. now to find a place for a new reef...
