Title: NY fluke proposal is in...
Post by: Duffman on March 12, 2008, 10:46:28 AM
From what I have read on a few places online.  The Marine Resources Advisory Panel of NY voted for a 20.5" - 4 fish - 5/15 to 9/1 season last night.  From what I understand, this will only be a recomendation as to what they want. The actual regs will be set in stone at a later date, possibly as late as May.
Between the MRAP, NYDEC, NYDEP, ASMF and NMFC its confusing as hell as to who is who, and who decides what.
The MRAP will also try to sway NMFS into adopting a coastwide fluke management plan.
 Just more buerocratic BS.   bngh

Bottom line, no matter what they decide.

It does not bode well.

Until they come up with a better system to collect their data, any regulations are meaningless for management.  How can you honestly manage with poor or flawed information.  Imfreakinpossible. bngh bngh
