Title: Thanks for having me.
Post by: Mahoney on March 15, 2008, 09:38:50 PM
I have been lurking here for a while and thought it was time to finally pull the trigger and join.  My name is Jason Mahoney, I am a returning college student after working in the leasing industry.
I have spent every summer on the water (skiing, crabbing, waverunners), but am a newbie to fishing.  Well, this summer is going to be different. I traded in the old bow rider and bought a new (with some parental help) Cobia 236cc w/ a F250 Yamaha.  My grandmother lives on the bay in Beach Haven West, so that is where I keep it and will provide the home base for my new found hobby.  I have always attempted to take it up, but felt limited with equipment and lack of experience.
In the past I have looked to this forum for inspiration for a weekend whim, but now I hope to be hooked.
Any advice/words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all
Jason

very nice to have you.  I also grew up with a grandfather, then sold it to my parents, a place in Beach Haven West, Manahawkin.  Morris Blvd.  I also rented many of places on Mill Creek Road.

welcome to the site!  Good luck with your new hobby and your new ride, I'm sure your be addicted after a few good trips.  The guys here will be glad to help you out.  You should try and go out on someones boat in your area to see how its done, or take someone on your boat that knows your area for starters.  If you have any questions about tackle, equipment or anything.. just put up a post.  Its good free advice

Welcome Aboard Jason,

Glad you made the jump, i am sure you are familiar with the way things work here.

It is a great time to have a new boat and getting into fishing.  This time of year things are getting ready to pop with the striper's, weakfish and the blues.  All within easy reach of your location.  Get a good chart of the bay area and locate all the sod islands and look for deeper water and have fun.

May is the trigger time for blues coming through the inlet and the sedge islands in back of IBSP are a hot spot for all three species.

Again Welcome Aboard

Paul
