Angela Rose hosted Bill, Charlie, Steve, and Chris on a shared charter for opening day of winter flounder. At 0730, lines were taken off and we were underway. We hit the fishing grounds with in 10 minutes of the dock and set up in no time flat. Our own blended chum entered the 43 degree water. Almost right away, we had bites but it wasn't for a good hour before the first fish came aboard. After sitting around for a while, we relocated to pick another fish after the chum hit the water. Again, after sitting for a little bit, another drop was made that produced a short flurry. The bite dropped off with the tide and we were a good hour and a half without a sniff. After a couple adjustments to the anchors, we drummed up another fish or two and then relocated to another spot that did not produce anything for 45 minutes. On our last drop, another small flurry of fish came about including Bill's Monthly Pool leading fish at 2.1 lb. @ 16.5 inches. Chris' first and only fish came in at 1.7 lb. at 16 inches. By the end of the day, 8 fish came home and a handful were released back into the river. Heavy chum and sashing the bottom was the ticket to catching fish today. From what it appeared, if you weren't working hard for fish, you weren't catching. We noticed a number of boats with 0 fish for the entire day and a few boats with some catches.
