Title: hello from NNJ
Post by: Diego Dangers. on April 27, 2008, 05:44:10 PM
Hey, names Diego, I am 22, moved up to NJ 4 years ago. Originally lived in Florida, mainly Miami, but we had a rental home in Key Largo, that's where I did all my fishing.

Since moving up, I have only had the opportunity to go fishing 3 times, once out of Liberty State Park, where we did some blue fishing, and then out of somewhere in the raritan bay I believe, for some blues and weak fish. Lastly, I rented a skiff out of Oceanic Marina last week, it was a great experience, but there was no fish in the whole river, staff told me that the fluke had done their run for the season, so it wasn't the greatest of experinces, heh.

Well, that's my story, hope to hear some great fishing stories and hopefully do some good fishing.

- Diego

Welcome to the site Diego. Any questions just ask. Anything you can add, please do so.

As far as NJ fishing. You will be getting into some good fishing shortly. The blues and striped bass are just starting up.

The fish that just 'ended their run' are the winter flounder. The summer flounder, also called fluke, won't be getting underway for another month. Their season starts May 24th, so, you didn't miss any of that.

There are guys who run open boats here. Make eight posts and other forums will open up to you. There, you can get contact information for members of the site who you can possibly hook up with for fishing.  t^

Welcome Aboard Diego,

Don't judge the fishing up in that area just yet it will heat up and I think it has started this weekend as many reports have been coming back with favorable counts of fish especially blues and smaller stripers.

Glad you happened to find us.  Like Rod said make yourself at home.

Bit I have to warn you we are addicting so please make the time to go fishing and post as often as you like, plus we like pictures lots of pictures.

Again Welcome Aboard

Happy Catching

Paul

thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

i am definitely not going to judge jersey fishing from one experience, this happened to me regularly in florida, not much, but it did, it's part of the fishing lifestyle, point is that I still had fun.

and since a lot of people mentioned it, Miami isn't all it is cracked up to be aside from the weather and the fishing. new jersey is much better in almost everything else!

again, thanks!

First off, welcome aboard  slt

I live very close to Liberty State Park. Are you in the area? I know of some great light tackle spots that come alive at the end of the summer.

I can attest to the Miami area not being all that it's cracked up to be. I used to live in the Kendall area of Dade County.

as to kendall, i lived in the town next to it in Westchester, but I did go to college in Kendall.
