I have tried them for the past 2 weekends and I find they are more trouble then they are worth.
I have lost more rigs even with the beads. I noticed that they frey the line when it breaks free. And this is new line were talking about not year old stuff.
It seems like maybe sand gets into the slide and chafes the line at least that is my theory.
Any ideas?

I have been using the sliders for years and have been trouble free. Check to make sure the inside of the sliders are not burred. That would frey the line.
Are you using braided line or mono?
Braided line will cut the slider and therefore cause line failure. They do make heavy duty sliders for braided line. Also, I have found that a lot of weight will also wear away the slider.

i use them all the time surf fishing, no problems othe than the fact that braided line cuts grooves into them

I am using mono and today I was using 4 - 6oz pyramid sinkers to hold bottom. Last week the conditions were very different extremely calm as compared to today. See my photos on IBSP 4/22.
I will give them a try again later in the week before I decide to deep six them...

I have been using the for years w/o problems ,I wont fish w/o them. you might have gotten a bad pack check the edges and see if they are sharp

Hi Paul,
Basically, the only rig I use from surf or boat.
Never had problems. Their are sliders made for braid that I use.
Where is the failure happening (at the knot)?
I use a uni-knot ... what are you using?

Hi Ed, I use the uni-knot as well but I noticed that when I looked at the end of the line it was jagged which tells me it could of been cut like Catfish suggested or that sand gets in between the slide and the line to chafe it.
The water was rough yesterday unlike last week where I had no problem at all.
I an going to check the ones I have left to see what the ends really look like. What brand do you I have Gamagatsu(?).

I use the black ones ,dont know who makes them but they are great ,I always use a palomar knot and never had problems

I use them with Ande #20 line and hav'nt had many problems. When the surf is really moving, it might get tangled once and a while, but never from the boat. <'((((><

I just saw those this year for the first time I want to try them w/ a chrome ball for fluke

No, the ones I have are black and the slider part looks like nylon. I did notice that there is an extra flap from the molding process I am going to try and cut that off and see if it makes a difference. ???
