Well, like I've said, some days it pays to get up in the morning, and others you should just stay in bed, LMAO, and today I should have stayed in bed.
Hit the canal at 4AM, conditions were excellent, water was clear, good tide, a lot of bait in the water, minimal boat traffic.
The blues that were there last night never left apparently, and they had a field day with my Fin-S fish. Can't catch a striper with all those aggressive 2 pound blues around. Have I ever mentioned that I hate bluefish???
One fellow caught a 19 inch fluke, fishing a spro bucktail tipped with a white gulp minnow. Fluke was 19 inches. I know it was 19 inches because I measured it for him, as he didn't have a ruler. By the time he walked over to me, the fish would have been dead anyways, glad it was a keeper. AT 250 dollars per illegal fish, I always make sure there is a ruler in my pack, so either this guy can afford the fine, or he isn't exactly the sharpest pencil in the pack.
I quit fishing around the start of the outgoing, around 7:30AM, as the bluefish didn't even stop biting during slack water. Decided to play around and get some pics of the baby winter flounder that were there if I could. These flounder are less than 3 inches long, pics came out ok I guess, considering the glare on the water.

Ken, I don't know what to tell you, I'm still doing it the exact same way, uploading the pics to photobucket, then copying and pasting the image links. I haven't changed anything.

Garry, those flounder are fluke and bass breakfast-lunch-dinner :-X
All summer long bigger fluke we catch in the river are spitting those baby flounder up one after another, there must be tens of thousands of them around

at least we can make them out.

Ahh...ok... telling me that was just what I needed to resolve the issue (sort of)...once I right clicked on the thread and viewed the source; I found the link to photobucket; pasted that in a new tab and found out the problem... photobucket is being blocked by our content filter in our corporate firewall... never realized it was a link...will try to view your reports at home and see if that does it.... thanks, was just enough info....

new sonic wall upgrade applied... and since my signature appears on those IT guys checks, I'm pretty sure it will be quickly resolved t^

Didn't we place one of those spit up flounders on a hook once and get slammed immediately?
Jason bought a flounder shaped/colored teaser (about 1" long) at one of fishing flea markets. Have to see if I can find it.
Jason is always looking for small crabs when some one pulls up a pile of garbage and he usually has immediate action.
OK, enough of a hijack ;D. Nice report as always. You just about have me convinced to make th drive downt here early one morning and do some fishing.

Cool photos of the baby fluke! Can't catch fish everytime, but you can enjoy the time out. <'((((><

I too have had many fluke from the river brought aboard and had them spit up the baby flounder also. However, the surest bet I've found, is when a fluke spits up a sheddar, put it on your hook immediately and drop it back down, surest bet there is for another fluke. Just before and after the canal entrance, most of the river has a mud bottom, and a lot of mussel beds, and sheddars tend to burrow in that mud, and the fluke know to look for them.
Years ago, wen it was legal, many of the oldtimers would fish for the small winter flounder, 6 to 8 inches, and keep them in a livewell or tank, and then liveline them in the Canal, they often said it was the surest bet to take a large striper out of there. I'm sure some are still doing it, LOL.
