Title: 6/14 Manasquan surf
Post by: blynch on June 14, 2008, 04:53:03 PM
First cast hit the water today at 5:09am.  The fleet off of Manasquan was already in full force, even more boats off of Spring Lake.  fishing around jetties led to nothing.  I tried everything i had- softbaits, plugs, etc etc.  Bunker were everywhere, but stayed outside of casting range except for 2 minutes around 6:15.  I suspect all the bass were under them, not me.  I saw one bass... 26-30incher caught on clams.  7:00, you could practically walk across the boats there were so many.  Wish i had time to take the Pounder 2 out and take a run. 5hrug

Going to Ireland this week...hope the bunker action holds till i get back

Good luck all,
blynch

Same problem my son has had all week, he's been watching the bunker off the beach all week, and they seem to stay out of casting range most of the time, only occassionally coming in.

He just called me this moment on his cell, and said a few small schools are in close, but the majority of them are still out of casting range.

Bunker schools should stick around, unless the commercial netters get them. Enjoy Ireland, be safe and get back to do some fishing.

Good try Blynch. It's tuff to have to stand there and watch all the bunker that you can't get to.  :'(
Get em next time.  t^
