Title: Irish Ayes fluking 6/21
Post by: IrishAyes on June 21, 2008, 07:21:11 PM
Headed out today with Bob Cole, Ralph, George and Ron P. Hit our usually spots for fluke.

First spot we stopped at produced a lot of short fluke. I brought up the first keeper at just over 18". This was caught on my newly won fluke rod and the reel I bought from Dicks sporting goods. Both rod and reel worked excellent, although I knew the reel was a tad too big for this rod, I did want to give it a try. Will be putting an Ambassador Record on this rod this week.

The day progressed with several more short fish and only one more keeper fluke. We also managed a nice size sea bass to put on ice.

All in all, a great day to be on the water, not too good of a day to catch fish. No wind = no drift. Tried spro knock offs with no luck. Didn't see much happening anywhere and no chatter on the radio.  Ran into some dog fish and skates. Never saw any bunker.

Will try again tomorrow weather permitting.  t^

Same deal down here Capt. We had no wind or drift until later in the afternoon when the wind really kicked up and so did the seas, ended up using a drift sock and 10-12oz. We had water going up and over the hardtop at times on the way in.

Wind never did pick up around Shark River this afternoon. Unless you want to call the little gust we had for all of three minutes.  :P
