Title: Gulp! Squid
Post by: Bucktail on June 25, 2008, 10:40:30 PM
I'm placing an order for some Gulp!  I like the Swimming Mullets (pink & chartreuse) and Shrimp (new penny & natural) for fluke, but I'm looking at these 3" Squids they have and I'm thinking about ordering a bucket of them.

Have any of you tried these squids?  If so, what did you think about them?  Did you have any luck with them?  Also, what color(s) did you use?  I'm leaning towards Amber Glow. ;D

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bob

i would go larger then the 3".  I use the 4" mullet and think they are too small.

Go 4 or even 6". The 3" will catch as well.

I use them in the same color(s) I use the swimming minnow.

If you're placing a GULP order, why not order the GULP spray. I've been using the shrimp scent in the back bay and just about every time I give my bucktail or clouser a shot or 2 of the stuff I get whacked within a minute or 2 of reaching the bottom.

Hey Bob I used the whole 6" squids last year on a tandem hook rig on a dead stick and had good results.  t^

Thanks for the responses.  They don't offer the larger squid in the buckets, only the 3".  I'm mostly going to be using them to tip bucktails and leadheads or as teasers, so I kind of like something on the smaller side.  Also the pics I posted are the only colors they make them in.

That Gulp! spray might be something I'd like to try.  Thanks for that tip as well!  t^

Once you buy the tub (either the smaller or larger one) you can place any GULP in it and the colors will NOT bleed into one another.

I bought a large tupperware containers and placed the juice of 3 large GULP buckets in it then placed a bunch of assorted GULPs (squid, shrimp and swimming minnows of various sizes/colors) in it. Before I go fishing a take a smaller tupperware container and grab a handful of GULP and pour some juice in & I'm good to go. I keep the small container of GULP in my cooler while fishing.

That's a great idea Skolmann. Saves from toting all the different bags around all the time.  t^
