Hi All,
I am starting to work on the contests. Here is a rough draft of what I propose for the crab contest.
1. Contest is open to all NJSaltwaterFisherman.com registered members. There is no entry fee.
2. The contest will start Memorial Day weekend and end on Labor Day, so (May 26 through September 3).
3. There is no "weigh in station." This is a "honor system event." We will need a picture of the crab with a ruler under it with your member number somewhere in the picture (piece of paper in the picture - whatever). Also, on a piece of paper or email to Rod or me your name; the date; and method of catch.
Entries can be done via email; Forum post; or mail. If done by mail, the entry needs to be received before September 3, 2007 - sorry.
4. No females are to be entered!
5. Prizes
* 1st Prize: $100
* 2nd Prize: $ 50
* 3rd Prize: $ 25
There will be a random drawing of all entries for a $25 prize.
Any state record crab gets $250 if you agree to publish an article and picture only on our website. We will write the article if you need help.
6. For any ties, the pot will be split by Rod and myself equally.
Opinions/Comments/Thoughts/Suggestions?
Thanks,
Ed

what if you win first second and third prize... or is it one place per person...
-
Hi Nick,
Good point ...
I think anyone can win all places - no restrictions.
You are fast with the response - you may want to re-read the post as I changed a few lines (LOL).
Thanks,
Ed

hey luna, where do you do most of your crabbing??

creeks in Little Egg Harbor. To put them on the table quicker, I have about 13 commercial nets, but only need 3 in the water. Drop over night and lift the next morning, average after sorting the femals and small ones, at least 25 nice keepers per net, per lift. If the crabbing is not good, I just put out a few more nets. When I get a smaller keeper ratio per net, I just add a few more to the water.
-
luna, what are the gps coordinates for those nets and what time in the morning do you normally check them? >:D ;D

I haven't been down there this year yet. If you go to the mouth of the Round-a-bout creek, just lay the commercial next as close to the shore line as possible without getting in too low of water. Put them in, in the evening, then do a life the next day. Depending on how good they are running, will depend on how many nets you need to get the required amount of keepers your looking for.
Hope this help....
Ps.. make sure your licenced for those commercial nets.

Hey Everyone,
This past week, I met with the owner of East Coast Trap Company based out of Bath, PA.
I was just hired on as the New Jersey Representative and Distributor. I am in the middle of putting all of my literature together before I start my advertising frenzy.
Sooooo for this contest, I am going to put something together for the winner from East Coast Traps! If the winner is caught using an East Coast Trap, I will have to hook that party up on the Angela Rose. Let me work out the details on this and I will repost.
On a little bit of a different note, the traps, pots, and other fishing / crabbing equipment will be sold wholesale to Bait and Tackle Shops. I will on the otherhand sell to a select group of people, say NJ Saltwaterfishermen TT^, at wholesale prices.
It is going to take me about a week before I am set and ready. Again, I will repost.
Thanks everybody.
