Title: 0-fer streak finally broken!

Went out last Fri evening, fished the incoming around the AC inlet. Didn't use spot like I was planning - bad combination of laziness and too much trouble. Anyway, I was getting lots of (barely) short fluke on gulp/jigheads, but as the sun set, I started seeing/hearing fish busting right up against a sod bank. Instead of pulling out a popper like I have been trying all year w/o success, I got an idea from my freshwater days when one of my best LMB techniques was an unweghted plastic worm crawled along the tops of the pads. I replaced the jig head with a plain hook and put the gulp jerk shad back on. I was using a light outfit w/ pretty slinky 12# mono, so I could still cast it pretty far without added weight. Third cast right up against the bank, BAM! Beautiful striper bout 25", great fight on the light gear. Caught two more in the next hour using the same technique before the bite turned off at the turn of the tide. It's good to finally get rid of the striper 0-fer for this year!
