Departed Shark River Inlet at 5:30 am. Set a course to the Humpty Dumpty. The sun was rising as we were motoring there.

Ran at about 25 knots and arrived just after sunrise.

Just short of our destination we slowed down to set up our lines.

This ship was our only boat we saw until the afternoon.

After setting up and putting the lines out we began our troll with an eight line spread.

As you can see, the ocean was as beautiful as the sunrise was.
While trolling, we saw some marine activity. Had a lot of bait breaking water at one point, but did not get a strike. We were visited by four ocean sunfish, a large sea turtle and many dolphin. The dolphin at times were playing at the boat, sometimes leading the way.

We trolled from the Humpty Dumpty to Little Italy, to the Lillian, Monster Ledge and then to the Shark River Reef. We hit many contour lines looking for fish. We trolled and tossed bait at the lobster pots trying for mahi mahi.
We did land a fish at one of the pots.

Although the catch wasn't what we were in search of, the company and watching nature and it's creatures made for a perfect day.

I haven't done a shark trip yet this year. Planned a few but the weather did not cooperate.

Sorry you really didn't catch anything...BUT what an awesome day!! The sights must have been something and the pics were great!! You could probably make money just doing sightseeing tours, rofl! Thanks for sharing.
TT^

I did mention just that to the crew. Extra cost for the site seeing tour. Their comment was...good thing we didn't see a whale, we'd have to pay double. w00t

rofla hhppy.
I was told today that there are boats taking people on sightseeing tours looking at the dolphins in the Navesink. Anything to make some money...and I don't blame them at all!!

Thanks for a great report Joe and crew. It looked like a fantastic day to be on the water today and I am glad you made it back before the storms hit.
Better luck next time guys.
I am going to try the BI tomorrow to see what is going on down there. Monday should be slow on the beach which makes for a good fishing day.
Happy Catching

Great photo's Capt Joe!

the non tangling Gods are smiling on you with an 8-line spread. That and/or your boat goes VERY straight. Even when I stagger them markedly I'm lucky to successfully run 4 lines. Then again my boat doesn't go straight, period. It's all part of the adventure...
Nice report, sounds like a fun day. t^

I give credit to Captain Mike for the spread. He set them out and we had no problems with them even in a tight turn around the pots. t^
