With remnants of the hurricanes coming are way, I can't stress enough to everyone to make sure your batteries are up to par, connections are corrosion free and tight [ no wing nuts on battery terminals] and bilge pumps, hoses, and float swiches are operating and free of debris. Also make sure your deck scuppers are clear and add extra fenders and lines where needed.
Capt.Matt.

Yeah I just heard they are calling for up to 4 inches of rain.

Good post and with heavy rain and tropical storm winds coming make sure when you add lines you allow for some type of storm surge. My lagoon can rise an additional 4-5 feet when the winds pile in and won't let the water out...

good info.. I have AJ and Uncle Luna to check things out for me.. (RIGHT) guys.

This will be the first bad storm since getting the boat.. While I am comforted by the flood gate protecting Waakaak creek from surge, I'm still a nervous nelly..I plan to head down tonight after work and add some lines and take down the curtains.. I'll be staying thru Sunday to babysit Fluka, and put everything back after this passes.. I'll have a laptop so I'll try to post a storm report tomorrow..

Good post.
Hey Nick, I'll be down at the marina so I'll check in for ya.

As I'll likely be just sitting in my truck most of the day watching the storm, anyone who would like me to check on their boats ( anywhere from S.Amboy to Highlands) can hit me on my cell.. 845-492-1689

Its 11pm and this storm is gone. Had some short bouts of heavy rain and even had a customer drive down from Philly to buy an outboard this afternoon. Looks like we scaped this one. Hope all made out ok. If you need help, give me a call. Capt.Matt

Thanks for the update Capt Matt. I'll be heading down to check the boat out and complete some electronics I'm installing in the morning.

We were kind of lucky with this one. Wonder how the beach fared?? Going to head over to the island tomorrow and see what is up! I will grab some pics if there is anything worth taking pics of...Hopefully everyone's boats are ok as well!
