Also look up Roddy by Penn on ebay and you will see a similar reel (if not the same). I beleive they are low end reels by an offshore mfg for others to put their name on.  If you looking for something to last for years then these aren't the ones you want. It will be a servicable reel - just for how long? and can you ever get it fixed would be my questions.

Phil,

I was just looking for some stuff that my friends that do not fish a lot can use on my boat. I am tired of letting them use my good stuff.   rgmn

If I'm not mistaken, they are made by Penn. The ones that I have looked at seem to be on the cheap (both in cost & quality) side.

Actually Master Rod was owned by Penn, but to my knowledge Penn did not manufacture any of the Master or Roddy stuff.. They may have marketed some of the master rods under the Penn name, but not the reels to my knowledge. Penn also does not offer any replacement parts for Roddy reels.  As other have noted, this is mostly lower end stuff, but may be well suited as your "loaner" tackle. Although, you may want to seek out more common mainstream brands to avail yourself to replacement parts. As with any of the low end tackle, you will also want to be more thorough when cleaning/storing after use, as they usually don't resist corrosion as well as higher end models
