Title: Waterproof Digital Camera
Post by: Pfishingruven on September 24, 2008, 08:51:15 PM
Anyone have or use one of the waterproof digital cameras??  Pentax and Olympus make a few models that I have been looking at to bring with me to the beach.  There are a few other brands out there also.  Just wondering if it is worth it or not.  Either way, I need to get a smaller, less expensive digital camera to take on the beach with me.  My current camera is a Canon Powershot and it is on the larger side and I really don't want to risk ruining it in the surf.

Thanks

i bought a waterproof case for my camera.  It screws around the camera and you can use it underwater.

That would be very useful on the beach as it would keep sand out also.  t^

I have a Pentax Optio W20 that I've been using for a couple of years.  I think it takes good pics.  Has been wet, used in rain, splashed, slimed up, and still like new.

Search the web and should be able to find one fairly cheap without a problem. TT^

A while back, I looked at a camera made by a company called Sea Life. They're main business is making dive cameras but they also make a waterproof point and shoot land camera. I think it was about $200.00.

Thanks for all the info.  I might try the case with my current camera for now, although I have not been successful at finding one yet!

I do a lot of photography and have been dealing with B&H for over 20 years here is a list of models they carry.

Looks like reasonable prices to boot.

Olympus stylus is technically waterproof to 30 ft, though i have never submerged it it seems like a good camera
