Title: Making home made Spro Bucktails
Post by: Kenny on December 07, 2008, 11:54:36 AM
Looking for some pointers on making home made Spro Bucktails in the 1 1/2 to 4 oz size?
I think that I have found a mold from do-it molds that looks like the one to use but am not sure.   ??? (Do-it Molds: Ultra Minnow Jig )

Any and all info from you guys would be appreciated....

that is the mold you want but you have to alter the hook size ,I make hundreds a year and find that the hook that they say to use is to big on the 3-4 oz. ,I filed down the eye part of the jig to fit a smaller size hook ,In the long run you will save a ton if you use alot of bucktails

Joe, thanks a million. Great links, Found just what I needed.

I do a lot of Fluking on the Mohawk during the summer and Loose a bunch of bucktails on those rocks up north.

I have always made my own sinkers and just knew there had to be a way to make those bucktails. It'll make a good winter project for me and save a few bucks as well.

Thanks again!!!    t^

While this topic is up here, I have a question grtn?

Anyone ever replaced the bucktail with silicone or artificial skirts like on jigheads?  Just curious?  Wonder if they would work as well...probably a lot easier than tying bucktail on as well?!

Thanks

I have not tried it, but I see no reason why it would not work.
