All I can say is I did not sleep well Wed night nosmly
I tossed and turned and the only thing on my mind was Striped Bass ;)
I left my house at 2 am.
I arrived at Keyport Marine Basin at 3 am and my crew wasn't meeting me until 4:30.I put all my gear on the boat & started getting things ready. At 4:15 am Richie arrived.I turned to Richie & said are you ready to catch.Richie says Art I am ready.I went over my game plan with Richie & we were on the same page.At 4:55 am Eric arrived.Eric jumped on board and we pushed off.I pointed Richie in the right direction and we started searching for Bunker.Richie spotted them and we snagged a few.We searched the same area hi & low and never found the Bunker again.I suggested we go and look at 2 other spots.Search around some more and never spotted them.Instead of waisting time we decided to just go and drop anchor knowing we still had about an hr left of the ebb.We get to the spot & Richie drops the anchor.I baited up 3 rods with different cuts of Bunker and within seconds the lever drags were screaming.1st fish Big Blue,2nd Fish Big Blue,3rd fish Big Blue Well after the 3rd Bluefish I had enough nosmly so I decided it was best to start using clams.I baited up all 3 rods and within 5 minutes all 3 rods were bent. The only difference these were Bass t^ from 27" - 35".The 3 of us went through 80 Clams by 11 am.At 11 am the 3 of us were shot & we all called it a day.Richie & Eric kept 2 keepers each and all the others were realesed to fight another day.
Richie & Eric it was a pleasure fishing with you guys chrz

nice... tell those blues to get out of here

Great report Art.
I usually can't sleep the night before I go fishing either. And like myself, when it comes to fishing, you probably are in need of some sort of psychological counseling.

great report.. that is usually the reason I don't like fishing bunker chunks for stripers.

I know what I did wrong.
Next time I see you I will tell you what I did ;D

Good report and a great day, congrats.
I have found that even with the bass busting on Bunkers, you rig up a big juicy clam and send him to the bottom you'll get a bass TT^
Clams are Bass Candy slt

Last Friday afternoon I had 30 whole clams shucked from the shell.
I put them in a plastic zip loc & stored them in my fridge.
Every morning I checked to see how bad they smelled rofla
On Wed I had to put 4 bags over the zip loc bag because they stunk !
Here is what I did wrong ;D
Instead of dumping over the week old rotten smelly clams in the water. I should have just dropped down the chunks.
My gut tells me once the stink was in the water that attracted the Bluefish.
PS my hands still stink !!
How can I get rid of the smell ???
-
Art, Nice report. Sometimes,I wash up with some backing soda and water;usually helps with the stink. Any body else have some ideas?
-
Nice report. Sounds like you had great action t^
-
lemon rids the smell
-
Great report Art! t^
In my previous life I had to do a ton of shucking and fileting. There used to be a product called "Non Scents" that worked like a charm to get rid of that fish smell completely. If it's still around I would recommend it highly! ;D
