Title: Finnally joined 40 lb club

Hey guys, been a while... I went out on my boat Friday and Sat. Friday was all blues and Sat I found a spot with good strong current and used some fresh bunker chunks. Waited about 2 hours and I got a run off. Right away I knew this was a quality fish. I fought it for about 15 minutes in strong current and finally got her in. 43 lbs on my scale! Within 5 minutes of that we hit another one that was of equal or greater size, my shimano 3500 liveliner was maxed out on the drag and it still was taking line.(60 lb power pro w/50 lb flouro leader). The fish came to the top and was done fighting about 50 yards out from boat. It was spinning on top with mouth open. We tried pulling her in but it was like pulling in a spackle bucket in strong current, no go!! I tried to help my buddy out by pulling the anchor but the current was too strong and eventually the leader gave. That was the best day of striper fishing I have ever had!! Lots of fun, too bad my pal couldn't get his 40 plus... Will definitely be hitting this hole again very soon....47" 43lbs on my scale the day I caught it, 42lbs next day at tackle box in Hazlet. I entered it in fisherman magazine contest even though it probably wont be in top 10 for long. Lots of fun and a fishing dream come true. Next stop...50lbs!!

WTG Greg...looks like you may need a bigger cooler for the 50#er....

Great catch! Too bad about your buddy's fish. Would have been awesome with two 40 pounders.  t^
