Good going Ken...Looking forward to it.  Just a word of advice as this year the Park Police are really cracking down on the rules so it might be a good idea to mention that.

Happy Catching

I took a group out tonight and we knocked them dead. We had brown and dusky sharks to about 90lbs. We had three run offs, where my reels were just screaming. We would have put more time in but it started raining pretty good. So fellas they are here, and in full force. We should have a blast friday night. My girl faught a dusky for about half an hour,I am so proud of her. That fish faught its heart out for her. I did have a video camera with us but the light on it wasn't that great and handling the fish and coaching the people threw the fight I had to rely on someone else to use it and it pretty much stinks. Wooo hoo we really had a blast. Hooking into these fish is like hooking in to a truck at times. Great times, see you guys on friday.

I've heard some good things about the shark action from the sand lately.

Ok folks here is the deal. We will be meeting in the area of A10 on the island. The weather stations are all over with weather reports but I think we will be ok. I will post any cancelations on this thread at noon, but we should be good.

As for the park I am told that there is a new administrator, and they are being sticklers about rules. I have been spending a lot of time out there and haven't had any problems. Please don't attempt to drive on with out a pass. Parking is very close to where we are going to be.
You need to get there as early as possible if you are not bringing fishing poles as they stop people from comming in who are not fishing at dusk. Saying that you are here for the surf rocket event may not help you to get in,but I will talk to them at the shack on my way in.

I may be out there a little late around 730 or 8 I am hoping not 8,I have to see what time I get out of work get loaded and on the road. Last year I was able to bring lots of food and sodas as well as the baits, this year its gonna be pretty much the baits. Its been a rough year,I'm sure though we will have a great time still.

Anyone who is driving on that can bring fire wood would be excellent. I will be bringing as much as I can,but I am working out of a jeep this year and am lilited to space. We have been catching sharks all week on beaches close to the island so I know they are there too. So the chances that we hook up are very good. The fish have been from 50lbs to 135lbs so be prepaired for the beach fight of your life. Also if you would like to bring some fresh bunker for your selves we have been catching them close as well as way out there.

I will bring rigs made up so don't worry about not having the right setups. And as always I have about 50 or 60 surf rocket baits made up. I will be bringing my daughter and 2 new daughters with me this year and I am excited about that. I'm sure they will keep Rods slipper dog company.

If I missed anything I will be back on later I have 40lbs of bunker in my kitchen sink that I need to rig up. Be back in a bit.

Sounds great Ken   t^
I'll be out there between 6 and 7 to get a little fishing in beforehand.  I'll setup at A10 and will have the NJSWF flag flying.
If I have some room, I'll throw firewood in the truck.
Like I said earlier, anyone not driving on that needs gear carted in, etc. give me a call and I'll run out to the A10 lot with the truck.

Ok I am on the money. Just finished making up the last of the baits I could. We have about 50 some rocket baits, and like I said I will bring some rigs may need to use your own sinker if your casting though. I have 50 some odd sinkers frozen and not sure what I have left. We are going to have a great night.

Hi All,

I am hoping to be out there before 6 the wifie said she is trying to be out by 4:30 so it looks good.  If anyone needs help with anything as well just give a call, 732-684-0385 if I am in a position to help I will.

I will be stopping by Grumpys during the day to pick up some bunker and that other staple clams.

I know we are not really into strict tides on this one but the tide will be going out.  the tides are:

Friday H  1:58 PM   Sunset  - 7:54
       L  9:03 PM
Sat.   H  2:37 AM   Sunrise - 6:08
       L  8:51 AM

So as you can see we will have an incoming tide after 9PM.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.  I also will have our flag flying high so there should be no reason for not missing ground zero.

Happy Catching

Paul

Hey everybody! Ill be out there hopefully around 6ish. Bringing the wife and 2 friends so we will see how much they slow me down. haha.
If all goes well we will have 2 vehicles driving on. I know one will be the black ford escape.  I took tomorrow off so I will have plenty of time to get everything together and run around and get some firewood.  May also bring a 6ft sub. Brought one last year but ended up tossing half of it so not sure yet. Anyone need anything else? drinks? Chips? let me know.

It was nice to see everyone again. Sorry I didn't pay attention to the tide when we set the date. We toughed it out and stayed after everyone was gone waiting for the tide to come in. At dead on 2 am my brother hooked into a monster shark. Not haveing a scale to weigh its hard to tell but this fish was over 120lbs. We could barley pic it up. He faught it for 45 mins and we got some great pics. As soon as I receive them in a email we will get them up. Biggest fish I have ever seen caught on the beach it was almost unrealistic for a jersey beach. It was as long as I am tall just about and heavy heavy. We stayed for about an hour after he was landed but everyone was beat. Next week with the tides right and the new moon shark action will be on the money. I will post more when I get the pics. It was great to see everyone again.

Yea.. they gave me a hard time from the time I hit the gate..  then they happen to stop at my "party" and give us a hard time that we only had 3 poles in the water..

When I got to the gate I  had everything I needed.
But my piece of plywood was 1/2"  not 3/4.. they made me run to betty and Nicks and buy a 4$ piece of 3/4" plywood rgmn

Fishing at IBSP is a real pain in the @$$ anymore!  We went out there for a after dinner beach trip with the kids.  We weren't swimming, just walking above the high tide line.  Kids were playing in the sand and I had my bag and pole.  We also have a yearly gate pass...it was 6:45 PM and they gave me a hard time about only having 1 pole and 5 people.  It was still 2 hours until dark.  I said forget this and went back over to South Seaside Park at 23rd Ave!

I don't even know if I will buy a gate pass next year 5hrug?  Had some time to fish this afternoon and guess what, IBSP>>FULL>>CLOSED  rgmn rgmn rgmn.  I can't win.  Great place, just too many rules anymore.  We used to put our pass on the rearview mirror and they would wave us in grtn.

I was able to get through on Sunday even with the FULL CLOSED sign up and Park Rangers waving people off.

I know with the BB pass I get waved through all the time, with no problems.

If I remember right, the reason they close the park is because all of the legal parking spots are taken. With the beach buggy pass you don't need a parking spot so they let you in.  t^

You are correct Capt Joe.  I called the Park the other day and found that out.  What I don't understand is, how do the people parked at A23 get all the way back to the bathing beaches??  Walking?  They really shouldn't be swimming on unguarded beaches in there.  If they closed the park to bathers when the bathing beaches lots were full, they could still allow fisherman in to park.  It would be nice, but things have been pretty much they same there for 30+ years so I don't expect them to change it now.

I will stick to night fishing when no one is around ;D.

If I remember correctly, there is also a limit to the number of buggys in the park at one time.  Not sure they really count it though.

Yup.  500 max.  Last Sunday it sure looked like there were more than 500 out there!

First I heard of that Lt, but I haven't been a beach rat for about twenty+ years now.   ;D

Thanks for the info

That's all correct plus if the park is closed to both BB and the bathers if you have a kayak you can still launch off A21 with a BB pass.  Don't ask me why...But I am glad I have choices.  In all my time going out there I have not been denied access yet.   TT^

I have been spending a lot of time out there this year, and I haven't had any problems. I went out one night with a friend who is in a well known rock band and all his friends they left I guess around 1 am. I must have passed out in my chair around 3 or 4 am and woke up sitting there at 930 to find beer bottles and liquer bottles scattered every where. I'm sure rangers passed us while we were sleeping and no-one said anything. I quickly scrambled to clean up the mess and stayed till about noon just enjoying the beach. I hear stories of people getting a hard time and it baffles me. I don't drink so nights like that don't happen often, but I do spend a lot of time out there.

My biggest issue out there are the vulture fisherman who drive up and down the beach following the blitz. They show no regard to anyone else on the beach. I even had one of these dipshits cut my line during a blitz. We were parked for hours set up and fishing and a blitz started right in front of us and out of no where a group of jeeps like mine pulled right up on us and crashed right threw us to the surf.I understand the craze of seeing bass blitz the beach but have some damn respect.

For the most part like I said I have had no problems out there that I didn't bring on myself. Sure there are rules but I don't think they are hard to follow. I do feel at times that people who aren't fishing shouldn't be in the bb areas. If your there fishing and have your family that's one thing but you see huge groups of swimmers in the fishing area all the time.

The pass is a lot of money and for that alone we should have our own area. Try fishing the surf on a summer day on any other beach its not happening. Too many people not that you can't. Accept for the fishing beach in belmar and even that gets swimmers. Island beach is a convenience beach for fisherman that's all. Sure you can catch fish there but there is definitely better fishing beaches in NJ.  As for the pics I sent rod, that was a big catch from the beach.I am on using my blackberry so I can't see the pics he put up and don't remember what I sent him but that fish was over 100lbs no doubt. For new jersey that is a killer catch
