Title: Striper try 11/3
Post by: kezsr on November 03, 2009, 04:18:07 PM
out of Sayreville this morning before 6 with Stew (Salty Dog) and his friend Ben,plenty of clams and some live eels.tried areas in the river with eels no takers, hit the open bay and tried clamming off Union beach with no success, moved to vicinity of the 1 can and tried on anchor and nobody home, pulled anchor and set adrift with the eels, had a fast drift with the wind and out going in the same direction, had some run offs and hook ups that were lost before getting to the boat,I actually had one missed and reeling to check my bait a big bass following it right to the top, on the run offs, were letting them spool forever before trying to set the hook and they were letting go or spitting the hook  rgmn .they're out there just could'nt keep them on the hook.Ben did pickup a couple blues, stayed in a drift to the 11A and tried on anchor near there, but nothing, set to drift again and nothing, made a move to the back and one last effort before heading in around 1:30.heading out tomorrow with friend Ken on his boat to try for the Bass and do some bottom fishing.      Kez

Stew it was a pleasure having you and Ben aboard today, hopefully can give it a try again before it gets to cold, more eels might have been the key, after they were gone so was the little action we had.thanks for the well wishes for tomorrow.  t^ chrz     Kez
