Title: Roosters Flukin 8-5
Post by: Peterooster on August 05, 2010, 07:11:12 PM
Tom and I were out today looking for our favorite flatfish. Tried the ocean first stopping at North Beach at Sandy Hook where we found a huge pocket of Fluke that were all shorts, moved down to south of Gunnison finding plenty of shorts. A move to #5 Sandy Hook Channel was made too soon as the tide was ripping with a strong NW wind making it very uncomfortable to fish. We moved in to #10 SHC where we waited for the tide change, which did not produce any keepers. On the way back to our slip we stopped at #1 Can with no keepers today we headed back in. Back in the harbor we spoke with a commercial hook and line guy who said the Fluke quota was still open for him and the draggers, makes me wonder why they are not getting enough fish as there are plenty of small fish for them to keep.
