Left the dock at 8:30 this morning. Went directly to a lump three miles off of the Red Church. Started fishing about 9:00. Water temp 70 degrees, wind was from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Had about 2 foot seas from the same direction.
First drift produced six keeper fluke. Stayed on the same lump all day. By noon we had ninteen keepers. About that time the wind slowed and moved to the north east. This slowed our drift and then it was skate city. Left that area and moved to a lump off of Asbury. Picked a keeper and some shorts. Drift was very slow now. Moved to another lump in the same area and finished the day there bagging two more keepers.
Total for the day; Twenty two keeper fluke and one keeper seabass. Biggest fluke was just under 24 inches.
While fishing our first stop I hooked into a small thresher shark while fishing whole squid. This thing went wild and made two great jumps completely out of the water. Then it shot toward the boat so fast I could not keep the slack out of the line cranking fast with a 6:1 ration reel. It zipped across the side of the boat and headed south at what seemed like a million miles an hour then bit thru the leader and was gone. I would estimate it at about five feet long from head to fork of tail. Man, that was fun! t^ t^

Hi Skip, this thing came to the boat, but on it's own. Ran right up from the stern, cut across the starboard side and past the bow at super sonic speed. It was very graceful, skimming thru the water like a speed skater. One long move one way, swished it's tail and made a long move the other way. Awesome sight to see. I would have liked to have video of it but everything happened so fast we didn't even have time for anyone to get a camera.
