Hi All,
Had a real crappy work day so decided to go for a walk on the beach this afternoon around 1:00PM. Amazingly, a lot of people there. There was a 1 ft. chop and winds light out of the SE.
There were fish and birds working north of The Surf Club up to the refreshment shack. There were times they got close enough to cast to. No one was fishing. The water was a beautiful blue.
I stopped in Grumpy's to say hello and talk tarpon. Talked to a few guys who worked the Seaside Park area south into Island Beach State Park. The guys could not reach any fish. Shared the info with them. Bought some tackle. Felt a little better and headed home.
The fish are there. There is a ton of bait (mullet, spearing, herring, maybe peanuts).
Great time to throw some metal,

Hi guys,
Boy it sounds like a good space break, Capt. Ed. I think I might do that tomorrow before the rain settles in at night.

You may see me there again tomorrow (maybe I'll bring a fishing pole ... my partners and I are not getting along.

I could sense it in your post.
Bummer. I hope everything works out for you.

I went out to Ortley Beach just before noon. Not much in the way of anyone catching much, small fluke, sea robin, and a snapper abt. 8 inches long. Other than that the water was fairly calm with a south east wind.
Plenty of bathers on the beach as was Lavalette. In fact it looked like a summers day out there.
I brought my rods but did not wet a line. No birds, no bait, no fish!
come on Fall Run...
Happy Catching
Paul
