Title: Sat 4/19 Sandy Hook Spring Striped Bass Fishing Report
Post by: Capt. Carl on April 19, 2014, 07:27:17 PM
Dave and i headed out this a.m. from the Highlands with Joe and crew from Albany N.Y. in search of the Spring Stripers of Raritan Bay. Headed west marking bait the whole way. Started out on the troll with only 1 knockdown that didnt come tight. Set up on the hook and started crackin....1st fish on within 5 minutes and had consistent action for 2 hours until the tide dropped out. Had one fish peeling drag like a tuna but we never saw him....heartbreaker....
Back on the troll waiting for the tide to change was uneventful to say the least.
Current started moving so we went back on the Pik and had another flurry until the 3 horns sounded.
Alot of shorts( I THINK WE THREW BACK 30 OR SO)...25-27 inch fish today but we did box some keepers to 35 inches. most of the keepers had whole herring in their stomachs.
Have a Happy Easter everyone!
WE STILL HAVE A COUPLE OF OPENINGS FOR OPEN BOAT SAT 4/26 IN THE A.M.
GIVE ME A SHOUT FOR THE DETAILS!!!!!!
