Pushed off at 8 this morning with Naked Eddie, Jeff and Jack on board. We headed north out of SRI. Registered 68 degree water ocean side. Seems like the temp rose significantly from the reports from previous days.
Ran to Long Branch, forty feet of water and lines in. Immediate bites producing short fluke. After a few shorts I managed the first keeper fluke on the Irish Ayes for the 2014 season. No weigh in but taped out at twenty one inches. Jack was next with a keeper and I put the third and final keeper for the day in the box.
Between four of us we had three keepers out of the twenty three fluke brought to the boat. A half decent bite lasted just over an hour, then the bottom dropped out and the bites were few and far between.
Even with the limited number of keepers it was still a nice day on the water. All systems go for Sunday.
