Fished the SHBA Tournament this weekend with Wreckfish and Jakemeister and my son who joined the crew on Sunday's trip.
Sat. We shoved off at 6AM and pointed her towards the 'snake. Running down the beach in a light fog we soon hit a curtain of pea soup. We were near some rock spots off the highlands bridge so we gave it a shot waiting for the sun to burn off the fog. Soon Phil came tight on a short but that was all be could do a that spot. Inched our way on to to the reef. Phil put a nice ling in the box and I was fooled by a giant silver eel into thinking I had the winner on the end of my line. Moved offshore of the rocks and Jake was soon busy catching short after short. Phil and I put a couple of nice CBs in the box and another big ling. The fog lifted to reveal we were in a fleet of about 50 boats. No drift so we made a move to the mud, we did manage to put 3 keepers in the box before the south wind started honking.
Sunday, We fished the bay drifting the channel edges and put together a catch of 4 more keepers. Unfortunately for us the largest fish was a 5#er that Phil put in the box.
Had a great time fishing with a great crew. We will get them next time. t^
