Need some minor work done on my 7.3 and can't seem to find a good shop
-
Where are you from and whats wrong?
-
I know a good one. The guy that posted right before me. N nnnn Rick- Still Running ;D
-
Starting when its cold and some other minor stuff. I had a ton of work done over the last yr. I plow with it so I want it to be set for the winter. I live in Somerset
-
I don't anyone there. Sorry
The colder it gets the harder it is to start?
Runs rough when it does start and then runs better as it gets up to temp?
-
the colder it gets the harder to start yes. when its really cold I have to spray it with starter fluid and even sometimes that doesn't work. Yes. rough when it finally does start. Also when trying to start tons of white smoke.
-
Yup that's it
Check the glow plug relay first, but that's most likely not the problem.
Seen it many times and it's the injectors.
I would not use starting fluid in that engine, you could blow it up.
-
ok thanks ive heard that before. they are pretty $$ right? Is it something I can tackle myself or should I take it somewhere??
-
What year is the truck?
If you have never done it before, about 8 hour job.

I would also replace both under valve cover harness's since yu have the valve covers off.

It's not hard you just have to make sure you clean the injector holes with a wire brush and suck out the oil from the top of the pistons.
If you decide to do the job let me know and I will let you know what you have to do.
