Title: Snafu Rig
Post by: Eng 94 on January 18, 2015, 08:06:52 AM
There was a recent post on site on tying a snafu rig,I tried to find it but couldn't locate the one I'm referring to.

Anyway I have a question about tying the rig to the main line. The way it was done on site there is 18" of line with a hook at each end with a Drop Loop in the center for the weight (Sinker). Where are you tying on the main? At that loop?

the way I tie a snafu is simple, connect your leader material to your braid via your knot if choice. Pull 6' of the leader material off and cut it, then double the leader with a double over hand knot at the top. Attach your sinker to the bottom via a loop, about 6" above the sinker take 2 snelled hooks and stick the loop from one through the other  and put the hook through the loop on each one with the leader in the middle. Now just take the sinker and make an overhand not over the snelled hooks and your done. easy to tie on a moving boat with cold wet hands  t^

Joe, the loop in the snafu rig is not for the sinker, that is used to attach the snafu rig to a dropper loop on your leader (loop to loop). The sinker is attached to the end of your leader under the snafu rig.

Okay; So if I understand you correctly the snafu with the two hooks and center loop is connected to the leader. (Right?).

Then you tie a drop loop with the sinker separately to that rig. (Is That correct?) Wish I new how to make a sketch of what I'm thinking on here.

No disrespect to your explanation BigAl. But I don't know what you are saying ???. I'm lost 5hrug

Edie: Looking at the pictures sequence I have everything up to the snafu already made. What I'm not clear on is the connection to the main line and where the sinker comes into play.

Those pictures on that post do not open.
