I originally had a trip planned for this Tuesday or Wednesday but, the weather looked like it would be called off so, I scrambled for a crew for some available time yesterday. The crew consisted of my wife, her mom, my sister, and my friend Adam. We left the dock a little later than expected and were greeted by beautiful conditions.
The plan was to run through the Lilian area and look for good water and life on the way out to the Glory Hole. Found no life at the Lilian but plenty of bunker in the area of Shark Ledge. We moved to the western edge of the GH and found nice water but, still not tons of life. First off we found a large, dead sea turtle adrift. There were some mahi below it but, we could not get them to bite. We trolled south down the 30 line and deeper and back for a while with only one possible hit before deciding to move inshore and look for a whip tail.
On the way in we found some more bunker in the Slough. We setup a drift and struck out there as well before pulling the plug.
Even though we got the skunk it was still a nice day to be out with family and friends.
