Triple header of tuna up for $900k. This is a hell of a fishing day in that tournament
-
It should be an interesting and crazy last day of the tournament with 335 boats eligible to fish today. clp slt
What a shame that the one boat broke that Blue Marlin off after a 5 hour fight. :'(
-
Great tournament so far with 568 marlin caught and 559 released after 4 days.....I’m sure Underdog had a restless nights sleep and today must be the longest day ever!!!! Anything can happen with anoit 325 boats out today! chrz
-
3 more hours. can't wait to see how this plays out. 335/382 boats fishing today. Might all that pressure and boat traffic give Underdog the win? We'll have a good idea by 7:30. Haven't been many weigh-ins after that time has passed but who knows. pcrn chrz
I was going to go down this morning since the weekend weather turned to crap but my parents AC crapped out around 8pm. Couldn't find them a portable ac unit until about an hour ago
-
oh boy. Tie for 1st @83lbs Weldors Ark and Underdog
-
No tie. From the rules: In the event of a tie in the weight of a white marlin, the fish that is
not gaffed will be considered the winner of the two.
Underdog gaffed theirs. This one today was not and is the leader and would win all that money.
-
cfzd must have announced that when I went to pick up dinner. Assuming Underdog moves to 2nd place then?

Wow, that would be horrible, almost hope someone beats the 83 cause i don't think Underdog crew would ever get over it.....guess you have to read the fine print!..... wish i could buy them a few dozen chrz...
-
wow from 2.6 mil to 130,000....feel for them Underdogs chrz I said anything could happen earlier, didnt think this was possible tho...losing by a gaff
-
that gaff shot on underdog's looked like it ripped a nice chunk out of it. Can't find a picture to show it
-
Capt. Jake from the Underdog just posted a classy response on the WMO FB page. STUPID F'G rule.
WMO FB (https://www.facebook.com/pg/WhiteMarlinOpenTournament/posts/?ref=page_internal)
Just scroll down to you see pic of today's fish and his post is there.
-
Yea.. It is a stupid rule. I watched it live.. it really sucked ass..
-
Jakes not handling it too well. I guess I wouldn’t either
He has a valid point
The only thing I am mad about is that the white marlin open weighs fish in half pound increments. This whole situation could be easily avoided and it just isnt fair to me that I must adhere to all sorts of rules and details only to have the tournament tell me my fish fell into the same fairly wide range of weights as another fish.
Nothing exact or precise about it. Those two fish did not weigh the exact same thing. They both weighed somewhere between 80.00 pounds and 83.50 pounds but we will never know which one is bigger very simply because the tournament didnt do their job in properly and fairly scaling the fish.
With a couple million dollars depending in the outcome of their scaling of the fish, I dont feel like it's wrong for me to feel like I got screwed in this deal.
And even if I had won the money and another team had been screwed over on the money, I would still feel the same.
I want to know if my fish was the biggest fish caught in the tournament. It just defies all logic to me that I will never know. I'm a competitor. And I just want to know.
-
I agree
-
I'll bet next year no boat gaffs their white marlin catches.
I looked through the rules earlier and obviously it states the non-gaffed fish wins but what happens if both are gaffed or non-gaffed and how the decision is made. No mention of 1st fish vs 2nd weighed or a length tie breaker. Maybe there's a more detailed set of rules given to participants?.......
