Title: 10/9/20.... striper report
Post by: kpcoe on October 09, 2020, 07:57:34 PM
Out with cousin D, buddies Joe and Chris..... joe pumped up from missing and wanting to make up time for some missed great spring trips.....joe supplied the endless cooler and Chris And Darrin some Jersey Mikes.  Headed out the back of the bay making a left and up the river towards the Statue.... eels in tow and they were some beauties.  Was hoping to get most of incoming tide and we did....problem was.... not much of a drift...... hardly moving .. fleet of boats slowly dispersed as the bite never really got going for us.... saw a couple rats caught then Joe finally banged a nice fish and we were thinking it was only going to get better..... well it never did..... stayed for several hours more before moving over towards the Reef..... nothing there either..... moved out under the Verrazano looking to start the troll when we spotted literally miles and miles of bunker.... tails sticking out of water and waves of bunker splashing as birds would hover and spook the herd..... something I never realized before and probably was deceived  thinking it was bass or blues causing the outbreak but realizing it was just the seagulls causing bunker sprays all over!......trolled for miles while enjoying a beer and laughs with the guys.....always a blast catching or sight seeing! Some pics for the day.... better ones soon to come!
