Busted the basterds but the fine is only 250 bucks if they plede guilty and 500 if found guilty...What up with that, just a slap on the wrist.  Now if they would confiscate the boat and $250 for each fish, now your talking.  That would send a signal.

That $250 fine is all a part of doing their business. A 'permit' so to speak.

As Paul said, $250 a fish or confiscate their equipment and they would not be doing that.

Keep them off the water forever.  >:(

 o@ They should have there boat and gear confiscated and never returned. The fine should be higher, based on 1st, 2nd, 3rd offense and the severity of the offense. Jail time is in order for this offense. Match the fine to the crime. With this amount of illegal fish, they should never be allowed to fish again. >:( >:(

What a joke of a punishment that is. Wonder how the officers feel when the Sbags get away virtually unpunished after their hard work. They should have just sank the f'n boat the FIRST time!  <'((((><

Darren, the saying, "They were out on bail before I finished my paperwork" is very true. Too many times that has happened and makes you wonder if it was all worth it.  nosmly

The fine should of been.

6000 divided by 10 (average lbs per fish)= 600 fish X $250.00 per fish = $150,000.00.  Now that is more like it.  A nice round number, plus confiscation of the vessel.  That might work in discouraging others to try it.

The fine and penalty should be so painful that no one ( accept a complete idiot) would dare catch and keep illegal fish
