« on: January 28, 2009, 08:39:47 AM »
We have began to book a lot of dates for our Spring Striper and Drum Season.  We will start striper fishing around the last week in March.  And the drum usually show up around the 1st week in May.  The drum fishing usually lasts a little over a month, so don't wait too long.

I have all of our current availability listed at www.fishtheunreel.com

WE ARE OFFERING OPEN BOAT SEATS AND PRIVATE CHARTERS!!

Lets do a NJSWF trip!   chrz  Then lunch or dinner at the Lobster dock.  Is drum an eating fish?  Taste any good? ???   I saw an episode of Northeast Angler and the guys were killing the drums on Clams fishing on a Cape May charter boat in the Delaware Bay. Looks like fun!  chrz

Cool video Capt.

I hope we can get our trip in this year with you. We had bad weather squash it twice last year.

Do you guys catch and release these fish? I caught a couple last year and made the mistake of keeping them. First for such a big fish you don't get much meat, second there are worms in the meat and it taste like crap. It seems a shame to keep such a large fish, just to learn it was not good to eat. Although we caught them on striper rods and they where great fun to battle.

One guy from work told me it was good eating meat, white and flakey, but hard to fillet. Another fisherman told me about the worms and did not recommend eating it. I myself will give it a try if Capt.Bob says its good.  You can batter and fry almost anything. chrz

Hey, that's what she said, " There were a few "little worms" there before you decided to eat it!"  >:D.  Serious now, I've been told that the worms are usually found in the larger fish, so eat the small ones (Sounds like, well I'm supposed to be forgetting about about women for a few minuites) >:D
Snap a few pix of the big fish and let them go, try a small one and we will swap recipes sometime in May/June. t^
I have decided to tow my boat down there in May ,around the full moon, do an over nighter on the Drum and see what happens.  5hrug  <'(((((><
