What will you be targeting with the reel?  It seems a little light for saltwater.  It only holds 180 yards of 12# test line.  It seems to me for that price there would be something better suited out there.

Don't get me wrong I guess I am from the old school where bigger is better this physically just seems to small.  My .02

The Daiwa Luna's got great reviews and I know some people who use them for freshwater muskie fishing.  They have never said anything bad about them and very rarely have problems.

I don't know anyone using them for saltwater, but I had a cheap Daiwa spinning real that I used in the surf and it held up EXTREMELY well.  I agree that the 203 is a little light and does not have a ton of line capacity for saltwater applications.  The 253 or 300 may be a better bet.  The price is a bit hefty too.  You may fair better with a Shimano or Abu Garcia for the price or even a Penn.

Good Luck!

The Daiwa's a nice reel.  We sell the larger 253 and the 300 size.  It has a magnetic cast control on the palming side of the reel that lets you dial up more or less spool resistance to minimize backlashes.

Personally, for that size and type reel, I prefer the Calcutta 200.  It doesn't seem as fancy as the Daiwa, but it has a centrifugal cast control (which I prefer), a forged body (as opposed to machined), and the parts for Shimano reels are often easier to come by than for Daiwa.  Plus, even though it only has 3 bearings (my old one only has two), the Calcutta is still very smooth, casts great and is built like a little tank! t^
