Motor
« on: February 09, 2009, 04:20:31 PM »
Hey guys. I'm just about to purchase a 2004 Sea Hunt c.c. with a Yamaha 150 2 stroke outboard. I am buying this boat from a Marina. The boat has been sitting in dry storage and has not been used for 2-3 years. It was winterized by this marina the last season it was used. I intend to do a sea trial before I purchase it. The motor has approx. 60 hours on it. I'm having the marina change the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and do a compression test on it. Is there anything else I should have done to the motor that I have not mentioned. And should I be nervous about an engine sitting this long without being used. Again this boat is a 2004. I want to avoid any problems with the boat and motor after I buy it. So, if anyone WITH KNOWLEDGE in this field can tell me what else I should look for either on the boat, wiring, motor, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much. chrz

I would also have them change the thermostats, water pump and lower unit gear oil.

Also have them do a leak down test on the cylinders, check the seals in the lower unit, check the oil in the lower unit for water-metal shavings

I don't think they will throw in a warrantee with it because it's not the Marinas boat. It's someones personal boat that the Marina advertised for 10%. Does anyone know where I can get a used T-top.

How old are the batteries? If they are the originals I would have them replaced. I bought a 21 CC with a 150 Yamaha in fall of 2007. Only had 39 hours on it. Havent had a any trouble with it.
Used T top I tried couldnt find one. So I made this. Cost me about 250.00. Will try it out for the first time this spring.
