It's early Mon. morn. I head to Beach Haven inlet, decide to take 1 drift while I debate going outside.
I'm heading toward shore, time to move... the engine won't turn over!
 Try the battery switch in all 3 positions.... nothing. Now the shore is really closing in.

In a panic I throw the anchor as far as I could, it grabs, I pull myself as fast as I can thinking I'll throw again and move myself away from shore and get around the corner.

The anchor doesn't catch this time, I pull it up throw again... it catches! But I only have a short rode out, I know it won't hold for long, and I could just about jump on to the beach from the boat.

Here comes a family for fishing fun, I wave them down and they tow me to the bay so I can get a good anchor set and call for help.

I didn't see the name on the boat but  Thank you so much whoever you are!!
 My first call to boat US Had help on the way.   Before Tow boat could arrive I managed to get started again  Dirty? loose ? Batt. connections. Made it back to the marina where Tow boat was waiting for me to make sure I was safe. Thanks to Boat US and Tow boat as well!

Good thinking under pressure with the anchor.  Now tighten up and clean every battery connection and electrical terminal and make sure you have the problem resolved.

I agree Nick, I've offered assistance at every opportunity.  Karma's a bitch when you ignore plea's for help and just drive on by.

Wow pretty scary for sure. But it sounded like you didn't panic under pressure and all worked out OK.
I think for the most part the boating community looks out for each other. Don't they ?

Isn't it the law that you must help out a boat in distress ?

As long as it does not put your boat or crew in danger, which is where the caveat lies.  An ass can use the "I didn't want to put my vessel or crew in danger" excuse for just about any situation.

I agree: every one on the water has a OBLIGATION to assist. I have rendered assistance many times and lost hours of fishing time...but thats the way it is...never can measure saving some one or preventing a diaster. God puts us where he needs us.

Well fishfool next time i go fishing with you just pick me up at the end of holgate. lol. Glad it worked out for you bud. It is nice to see some people still care.. PS is this what your face looked like  .
