My new "OLD" beach buggy
« on: February 17, 2009, 05:32:47 PM »
Hello Everybody.... Been a long time. I have been workin...studyin.... and GirlScoutin with my daughter. In the hustle and bustle, I have found it difficult to get on here and chit-chat. I have however been workin towards improving my chances this year by improving on things from last year. My first major problem last year was mobility. I was in a VW Jetta for the majority of my trips, loading equipment in like I was playing tetris in a really small box with very oddly shaped peices! Because of the difficulty lugging this stuff onto the beach, I fought for space on crowded fishing piers or planted myself on one spot at the beach. I have just remedied this problem in a big way.

I have since sold that Jetta and have just purchased a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee for a fraction of the price. I used the Lions Share of the money from the Jetta to just about get outta debt. The Cherokee I bought was owned by a 70 year old retired cabinet maker who has been fishing the East Coast Surf for 40+ years. He took excellent care of this vehicle, and added a few upgrades. it is equipped with ski racks to hold up to five poles on each side of the roof. There is a twelve foot lockable tube to carry one-piece surf rods. There are rod holders on the inside ceiling to hold up to 8 poles, 7' or shorter. He built a 3-shelf tackle cabinet inside of the vehicle so that I can keep the important things well stocked. There is a front hitch receiver with 3 different custom made racks for coolers, pole holders, etc.I am going to be picking up some beach passes hopefully in the very near future, and look forward to the up and coming season. Hopefully, my reports this year will be more frequent, and will more frequently end with fish in the box. Here are some pictures for you to check out.

Nice ride. Looks like you are all set there. Just add water. I wish you the best of luck with it.

I especially like the sticker on the back window in the next to last pic.  TT^

That's a bad ass looking ride,

Is that a 100 or 120mm cannon on the roof?
Or is it a new prototype for the surf rocket.  rofla

Might scare a few people with that baby...

Best of luck with her!

Sean my man you now have a ride that will make many very envious.  Now we have to figure out if Surfrocket can pressurize that thing and the heck with a boat you should be able to reach out at least a mile or so.

All kidding aside that is one nice ride and the best of luck with it.  Just keep it out of trouble.

Happy Catching

Thanks everybody!

Rod... I was gonna ask you for a couple of stickers anyhow. Let me know if you got any.

Paul... If I let Surfrocket Ken get a hold of this tube, we would have to by him a bigger blender for the bunkertinis!

Hopefully I can get enough poles and reels to fill all of the slots. I have a troop of ten year old girls who are all dying to get out on the beach with me after hearing stories from my daughter about our previous fishing trips together. I am a proud Daddy to know that my Katelyn has learned to tell "Fish Tales" before she has actually caught a fish. Just ask her.... she tell you all about the Doormat that her Dear Old Dad couldn't net before it spit the hook.  nosmly

Anyway, I will be sure to document and photograph My first day out with the "Mobile A'Salt' Vehicle"  t^
