Hi All,
I was out today taking readings at different depths and they were quite impressive. But first I would like to say hello to the fisherman that told me I was parked in a NO PARKING zone at the kayak launch on IBSP. Sir I was only there for 4 minutes (no one else was there launching their boats) taking readings and thanks for just saying hello. I guess the fishing police are out already. Cheeze???
Kayak launch A21 52 deg. @ 3'
SSP pier by the yacht club 52 deg. @ 12'
SSH North pier 52 deg. @ 15'
54 deg, @ 8'
Mantalokin Bridge 54 deg @ 4'
Ortley Beach Oceanside 48 deg @ 8'
Today's wind was out of the East North East at about 6 gusting to 19-20 mph
The air temps were in the low 50's.
I was not surprised to find the temps on the western side of the bay warmer than the east side with the wind today. The upper bay is definatly warmer due to its depth.
I did talk to 2 kayakers and found one caught 1 nice keeper flattie caught up by the bridge just at the change in the tide.
I hope this helps some of you in making the decision on b reaking out your poles and taking to the water.
The temp gauge is a Depth-O-Plug that gives me th temp plus the depth pretty neat.
Happy Catching
Paul
