Friday 4/24 Navesink skunk report
« on: April 25, 2009, 11:59:38 AM »
I was on the water, fishing the Navesink, an hour before the sun came up. I was using  artificials looking for schoolie bass but had no hits. I followed the rising tide all the way up the Swimming River, saw a few shorts caught by others around 8am.

Excellent sunrise  t^

I was off the water by noon.  Can someone give me some lure tips for Spring schoolies?  Thanks,  John

I was in the river in the afternoon and saw nothing anywhere till I got out to the end. I had some nice marks in a 19' area along the channel and some bait also. I could not get any bites. tried everything except bunker.    I heard there is a 3 week period where it is amazing in there that is why I wanted to check it out.   If you get any info let me know. I would love to bring some people in to fish there that cant go out because of seasickness.

Good try!

5"-6" Mambo Minnows or Rapala Xraps or anything similar...Black, Yellow an Ghost Glass work well.  Or any lure that will hang in the middle to bottom of the water column.  Work them very slowly until the water warms up some more!

Good Luck.
