Mantoloking Pier 4/25
« on: April 26, 2009, 10:29:27 PM »
Headed to the pier around 8:30am and the wind from the south was a killer. Caught nothing but seaweed. Only saw one flounder caught all day. Gonna have start trying different locations and wanna start doing some stripers.

Hey Drew...Small world.  That was me and my buddy on the pier.He caught the flounder that we had in the cooler. We went out the next day on the boat and only caught one short flounder and one short striper.

Good try!

There are street ends in Bay Head you could try, the park in Brick which has a nice u shaped dock, Lavallette has a park with bulkheads, and then into Seaside Park/South Seaside Park on the piers.  You also have IBSP on the bayside and eventually the Canal and the Inlet.

Your best bet for stripers is going to be early before and into sunrise or later at dusk into night.  Middle of the day may be tougher.

Good try Drew.

Pfish - do you know if those bulkheads and piers in Lavalette are public access?  I went past there one day and thought the signs said something about access by permit or something.

I haven't been to Lavallette this year.  The park by the Gazebo was always public access, but they could have changed it this year...wouldn't surprise me at all.  You need a permit to breathe anymore 5hrug.  I will take a ride by there next time I am out and report back.  Going to try tomorrow night?

never fished the Casino pier, but down there all the time.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

The park in Brick is public, I was there the other night.  The one's in Lavallette are the one's in question.
I'm hoping to get out tomorrow evening.  Not sure where I'm gonna try.  Somewhere between SSP and Mantoloking.
