Reading the encouraging reports and after a successful splash we gave it a try last Sun. trolling stretchs around scouting and looking for marks.
found a few out behind OOL on the shoal, with a couple misses and a knockdown that Christine fought for a bit before the split ring failed(!) on the forward treble. I swear it looked fine...
we were left with a few scales impaled on the rear treble and nada else...
Tried again yesterday with Dad, because we hadn't been beat up in awhile. With a honkin breeze, half bushel of clams, and 2 anchors we set up near the reach channel and chummed for a couple big blues but no stripes. No way 1 anchor was holding in those conditions on that bottom. Took a pounding in steady 2-3' swinging on the hooks quite a bit thru the last of the incoming and no difference with the outgoing. Saw the SP, CG, and quite a bit of activity around with the cold water kayakswimfest going on in Keyport Harbor- luckily sounds like it worked out for the best.
May try again tonight depending on wind and motivation.
On a good note boat is running well and YSA has picked up a full 6kts on top end due to the bottom refinish. So we should be more economical this year.
Tight lines everyone and BE SAFE.
